What Sets Us Apart

Designed for a Life Well Lived

Fortune & Glory™ does not begin with a product.

It begins with a problem worth solving.

Something awkward to carry.

Something poorly made.

Something useful that has become disposable, overcomplicated or stripped of character.

Founder and chief designer Christo Saggers creates original equipment and reimagines familiar pieces for the modern Rugged Gentleman—combining timeless form with practical function.

Nothing is added merely to make a product appear more impressive.

Every feature must earn its place.

Every detail must serve the life the product was designed to accompany.

Purpose Before Appearance

Our products are designed to make small but meaningful improvements to work, travel, home and adventure.

A handle should feel right in the hand.

A pocket should be where it is needed.

A fastening should remain secure when the weather turns.

A bag should be comfortable to carry, simple to use and strong enough for the journey ahead.

Appearance matters—but it follows purpose.

When form, function, materials and proportion work together properly, beauty is no longer decoration. It becomes the natural result of good design.

That is the standard behind every Fortune & Glory™ product.

Timeless by Design

We look backwards and forwards at the same time.

Back to an age when equipment was made from leather, canvas, timber and metal because it needed to work, could be maintained and was expected to last.

Forward to the needs of men living, working and travelling today.

We do not recreate the past or manufacture nostalgia. We take what worked, reconsider what did not and apply timeless principles to contemporary life.

The result is equipment that feels familiar without being old-fashioned.

Modern without following fashion.

Distinctive without shouting for attention.

Tested in Real Country

A drawing can tell us how a product should work.

Only experience tells us whether it actually does.

Our prototypes and samples are carried, used and tested in the hills, rivers, boats, camps and changing weather of New Zealand’s South Island.

They encounter rain, wind, mud, dogs, vehicles, heavy loads and the ordinary knocks that equipment receives when it is genuinely used.

If a weakness appears, we do not explain it away.

We return to the design.

Dimensions are adjusted.

Stress points are strengthened.

Handles are reconsidered.

Materials, fastenings and construction are refined.

The process continues until the product meets the standard.

It must work.

It must endure.

And it must genuinely impress the Rugged Gentleman.

Honest Materials

We choose materials for their performance, character and ability to age with dignity.

Full-grain leather softens, darkens and develops a patina unique to its owner.

Waxed canvas gathers creases, marks and memories while remaining practical in the field.

Quality metal hardware provides strength where strength matters.

Cotton drill and canvas linings offer a natural alternative to the synthetic materials found throughout modern mass production.

We do not expect honest materials to remain untouched.

We expect them to become more personal through use.

A life well lived leaves marks.

Good equipment should carry them proudly.

Leather with Character

Leather is a natural material—not a manufactured sheet designed to look identical from one piece to the next.

Every hide has its own grain, tone and history. Small variations, wrinkles and natural marks are part of its character and evidence of the life it lived before becoming something new.

We select leather according to the work each product must perform.

A belt requires thickness, strength and controlled flexibility.

A duffel or backpack needs structure and resistance to demanding use.

A cushion, beanbag or dog bed calls for a softer and more inviting handle.

The correct leather is not simply the most expensive or visually perfect. It is the leather best suited to the task.

Construction That Earns Confidence

The quality of a product is often determined by details most people notice only when they fail.

The thickness of the leather.

The strength of the thread.

The position of a seam.

The reinforcement behind a handle.

The way a stress point has been secured.

The reliability of a buckle, fastening or zip.

Fortune & Glory™ products are developed around approved specifications and samples. Construction methods, leather thicknesses, hardware and reinforcements are selected according to the demands of each design.

Our manufacturing partners are chosen for their capability, workmanship and ability to meet those standards.

There are no invisible details.

Everything matters.

Details with a Purpose

Depending upon the product and its intended use, Fortune & Glory™ equipment may include:

Full-grain leather chosen for strength, character and longevity

Waxed canvas or cotton drill selected for durability, breathability and timeless appearance

Quality metal hardware specified for dependable everyday use

Reliable zips and fastenings chosen according to the demands of the product

Reinforced stress points placed where experience tells us failure is most likely

Considered linings and finishes that improve comfort, function and the pleasure of ownership

These are not decorative talking points.

They are decisions made to ensure the complete product works as it should.

Made to Be Used

Fortune & Glory™ products are not created to remain immaculate.

They are made to travel.

To work.

To sit beside the fire.

To ride in the back of a vehicle.

To accompany a man and his hound through the ordinary days and memorable journeys that make up a life.

Wear is expected.

Patina is welcomed.

Repair is preferable to replacement wherever practical.

Our ambition is to create equipment worthy of being maintained, carried for decades and eventually handed to the next owner—with the marks and stories of its first life still visible.

You may even decide to mention it in your will.

Luxury with Integrity

True luxury is not a logo, an inflated price or an object too precious to use.

It is thoughtful design.

Honest materials.

Purposeful construction.

The confidence that comes from carrying something made properly.

Fortune & Glory™ does not create fast fashion or disposable accessories.

We create equipment intended to earn its place in your life.

Built for work.

Built for travel.

Built for adventure.

Built to gather stories.
